Senior CounselorChris has spent more than 40 years on every side of a story. He reported it for 22 years including a decade at The Wall Street Journal. He analyzed it for five years as an insurance equity analyst at Morgan Stanley and Lehman Brothers. And he has spent the better part of two decades advising the companies trying to tell it. That range is rare and it shapes how he counsels clients.
He works mainly with financial services companies with especially deep roots in insurance, advising insurers, banks, asset managers, and management consultants on corporate reputation, C-suite positioning, and crisis communications. Recent work includes raising the profile of global insurance groups, guiding a top-15 life insurer through a CEO transition, and helping healthcare providers manage cyber-breach notifications.
Because he spent so long in the newsroom, Chris understands what the press actually needs, not what a company wishes it would print. He has built relationships with mainstream and trade journalists over three decades, and clients lean on him for the kind of judgment that only comes from having sat at the reporter's desk, on the trading floor, and in the boardroom.
Chris founded his own practice in 2017 after leading Hill & Knowlton's U.S. financial services communications practice, with earlier corporate communications roles at AM Best, AIG, AXA, and Promontory Financial. He serves on the board of AM Best Rating Services and holds a BA from Penn State.
